The power of play in action
A big thank you to AIB Douglas for including Jigsee as part of their fundraising day for The Rainbow Club Cork! I was thrilled to hear that people of all ages got to play! The putting together of the special Jigsee message, while supporting a wonderful charity, truly is positivity in action.
I find myself reflecting back to the very early days of Jigsee. The motivation, inspired by my own daughter, was to promote positivity in a fun way. It fills me with joy to hear of people enjoying Jigsee today and to be pursuing this dream. The feedback I have received and continue to receive from students and teachers makes me realise just how unique Jigsee is.
One of my favourite comments from a student was that Jigsee had an:
Hearing this lifted my heart!
This feedback motivates me to continue to develop my goal, which is to help all children have fun learning and in doing so, feel good about themselves and the world around them.
However, in the early days parents and teachers wanted more in terms of introducing a conversation on the topics of happiness, encouragement, creativity, Love or the positive message. I find that parents are often keen to learn how to nurture and develop self-esteem in their children. As a mother myself, it is a never ending journey of trial and error which is all part of the learning! However, my thoughts in the Jigsee messages are influenced by 20 years of insight and a learning experience in education and pastoral care. It is a response to what I think is important for children to hear, discuss and develop.
The challenge was to figure out how to convey this experience? After taking lots of feedback, the Jigsee bookmark was created! This is unique to Jigsee. The affirmation and the thoughts on the bookmark can be the vehicle used to start a meaningful conversation in a relaxed, comfortable and fun way.
I am so glad to be able to contribute in any way I can to nurturing this conversation around learning, inclusion and wellbeing. It is important to me that each person knows that they matter and that the part they play in our beautiful world matters!
